On July 15, 2014 at 12:00 AM I documented aspects of a magnificent, majestic and world famous hotel. The Millennium Biltmore Hotel, originally named the Los Angeles Biltmore Hotel, is a luxury hotel located on Pershing Square in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The grand opening was in 1923, the Los Angeles Biltmore was the largest hotel west of Chicago, Illinois in the United States. The hotel has 70,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space. Originally the hotel had 1500 guest-rooms. Over the years, the Biltmore has been a true witness to history. From 1931 to 1942, the hotel was host to the Oscars, as well as notable names like J.F.K., Henry Fonda, The Beatles, Walt Disney and Louis B. Mayer. Furthermore, Elizabeth Short, A.K.A. The Black Dahlia, was last seen at this hotel before her widely publicized mutilated corpse was found in Leimert Park in January of 1947. The architecture is designed to synthesis the Spanish-Italian Renaissance Revival, Mediterranean Revival, and Beaux Arts styles, meant as an homage to the Castilian heritage of Los Angeles. The "Biltmore Angel" is heavily incorporated into the design—as a symbol of the city as well as the Biltmore itself. The hotel takes up half a city block and is over 11 stories.
