From: http://www.wlns.com/Global/story.asp?S=11644167 WLNS interviewed Travis Stoliker from Liquid Web about hiring in a down economy. "If you've been looking for a job in Lansing with no luck, there might be a good reason. A new survey says Lansing is the second worst in the country when it comes to employment outlook for the beginning of next year. It's training day for new workers. Lansing based Liquid Web just hired all 7 of them. Travis Stoliker works for Liquid Web. He says their constant hiring, even in a bad economy, is due to their work with the internet. When a website breaks down, they fix it. Since the internet constantly grows worldwide, so does the company, but so many businesses are dealing with cutbacks. A new survey says only 6% of Lansing businesses plan to hire in the next 3 months. 21% plan to lay off and about 70% cent will keep their staffing levels. Diane Mansfield is a manager for Manpower, the company that did the survey. She says the numbers could be so bad because of recent government cutbacks, but Mansfield says better days could be on the horizon. She says many companies could hire as early as March, meaning even more workers could be in the training room...."
