This is an update to a previous video: this excellent tool allows you to split .mp4 and .mkv video files (possibly other containers too, I've only tested what I have). I used it to split some gameplay footage I recorded using Shadowplay - the files recorded with Shadowplay tend to have a variable frame rate and this often causes problems with video editing software like Adobe Premiere. The software I used is called mkvtoolnix -- Matroska tools for Linux-Unix and Windows. You can download it here https://mkvtoolnix.download/downloads.html#windows (download from fosshub (download the portable version to follow along). If you need to decompress the 7zip file you can use this free software http://www.7-zip.org/download.html The resulting file from mkvtoolnix will be a .mkv - this can be uploaded or played with most media players. I have noticed that the splitting is not always accurate, this could have something to do with the variable frame rate in my files, or possibly the way the files are split, just bear this in mind when splitting to specific times. If your source file was an MP4 you can convert the .MKV back to into an MP4 container by following this video here: https://youtu.be/MoTY6SYPoCo - - - Please leave me comments with any feedback, questions, or if you would like to see a particular tutorial or tip.
